About me

Hi my name is Sue Crighton. I am a 62 year old female currently living in Southland. I am a teacher, a farmer,a wife, mother, nana, reader, gardener. Te Araroa has been on my bucket list for several years. Why. A good question. I want to see if I can complete an epic adventure. Perhaps it was too many Famous Five books as a child or perhaps it was mum and dad having us walk the Heaphy track both ways as kids, our first tramp. I am proud to be a kiwi and want to discover my country from off the beaten track. I am very grateful for the support of my family and school as I attempt this crazy adventure. In a weeks time I will be in Auckland waiting for a flight to Keri Keri. It's hard knowing I will be away from home for the next 3 months missing the birth of my next grandchild, 2 birthdays, Xmas, grubbing thistles, spraying, weaning, shearing, hay. Special thanks to Chris, Tobias,Jo, Alexis,Bree and all my colleagues at Menzies. I look forward to catching up with Johannes and Dell and other north island family. Have I done enough training, planning and preparation. Probably not and I guess I will soon find out. I will try to update my blog daily when on the trail as it will be my digital dairy of my adventure. Feel free to follow me.
