Day 4.

I had a bit of a late start. I was a 17km day to Waipapakairi motor camp and I had rang to book a room. The afternoon before a group of about 8 young overseas trail veterans who had done the AC and PCT arrived. They had an early start and we're making for Kaitaia 49 km away.  I had breakfast with Ana who was staying another day to rest her blisters
I dressed my blisters and started walking at 9 30. I saw heaps of vehicles on the beach until an hour either side of high tide. Locals out fishing, tourists in rentals, two Fullers buses. One was the driver Tahi who has taken me up to the Cape. The other gave me an apple.  I even saw a police car. I didn't want to get wet feet and it was hard and slow going in the soft sand. It was a gentle rain but I wore my coat. Listened to Spotify to help through the kms. The beach is mostly free of rubbish. Some old fishing nets and plastic bottles but it is all the very small pieces of plastic that you see washed up with every tide that is a concern. Arrived at the camp and was treated to cake and a can of Sprite. Chilled out reading your kindle Chris which I was able to pirate into. Looking forward to a hot shower and hot food. Want an early start as hope to get to Kaitaia tomorrow.
