Day 30

I back tracked a bit then walked down River road. Today was urban tramping and only carrying a day pack. I crossed over the Pukete bridge and picked up Te Awa. Walked past St Andrews golf course. Lots of riverside designer houses with designer tennis courts, designer dogs and sculptured gardens. I broke trail and walked past Chris's parents old house then down on to Victoria St. I took a photo of the cool farm family sculpture donated to the city by Robert Jones. I can relate to wearing a skirt and gumboots. The main street of Hamilton is fairly empty except for Cafe and bars. I spent ages trying to get a Doc back country hut pass. I tried the Doc office but they are not open to the public. I tried the I site and also a tramping shop. Eventually I was told you have to do it on line. I walked the western cycle way past Frankton and then out to Dinsdale. Hamilton  has made a big effort to be very cycle friendly. It was then up to Tills look out where I had a late lunch. The views were amazing and you could see the Morman temple and Pirongia in the distance. I will be climbing Pirongia in two days time. I walked to Taitua aboretum. Saw a letter box I thought Chris would like. Fortunately I took my phone off airplane mode and Dell said she was in Hamilton. Dell picked me up from Dinsdale and took me back to Kathy's. She got to meet Robyn and Logan.
