Day 37
Today was close to being a zero day as I didn't walk very far. I had a big sleep in and read on the kindle. I got the news that my Uncle Graham had died yesterday. It was his time. I was able to leave my pack at the motel and went exploring Te Kuiti. I caught up with heaps of others that I had met on the trail including Dave the kiwi who grew up in Invercargill. He had got misplaced at the same point I had but a day later. I bought more food then sat at a cafe by the bus stop and talked to Marcel and Bridgette the older Swiss couple. I then hopped on a bus for Ongarue. A very kind lady took me the 5 km to the Epic campsite. It was very hot so I just chilled out. Later on I walked back to Ongarue which used to be a thriving mill town until the 60's. Some people who had just finished the timber trail biking gave me some mince pies. It is hard to believe it is almost Xmas although the streets of Te Kuiti were full of Xmas sheep
