Day 39
I woke up to find a young girl asleep in the porch of the hut under the bench. She said she walked a 40:km day and arrived about 9:30. Someone was snoring in the hut so she chose to sleep outside. I had to confess. The walk today was similar to yesterday. It started in mature bush then into regenerated bush that was perhaps 60 years old. Again the bird song was lovely. I crossed a couple of the suspension bridges which are amazing. Only 4 cyclists passed me. The final part of the day was through scrubby bush and weeds. Lots of foxgloves and the blackberries way behind those in northland. The trail was a mixture of old bush tracks, tram lines and gravel road. I took a photo of an old stump which was a 'house' for a couple of guys who were splitting Totara battens back in the day. I decided to Glamp and camped at Camp Epic with showers, a kitchen and WiFi. The weather is meant to turn wet for the next week so once off the timber trail I will make a plan.
