Day 50 and 51
Day 50 was a family day. I spent time at Sarah and Dwight. Johannes arrived about mid day and it was so good to see him. We met up with Jared, Vanessa, Delilah, Esme, Lachlan and Bentley along with Sarah, Dwight, Georgia,Millar and Indie at Himitangi beach for some kiwi camping with the cuzzies. Lovely to get to know all the kids.
Day 51 Dwight dropped Johannes and me at the top of Scotts road. We walked the TA section called Burttons track. We started on forestry roads, stopped at Moturimu whare campsite. We walked up to a style and crossed into the native. The bush was lovely and relatively open. The tracks were not as muddy as Matahika. Johannes was good slowing down to walk with me. We made good time out to Tokomaru road then started walking Mangahau road. Dwight picked us up and had a couple of cold ones for the walkers. I have been so lucky to have company for two of the 3 walks in the lower Tararuas and also to be able to slack pack them. I took the photo of Mangahau power station because it was the first if many we visited in 1968 on our family holiday when mum and dad checked out every hydro station in the north island.
